New Moon in Scorpio - October 27, 2019
Special love in mind for California folks facing the fires. May you stay safe and hydrated. May we heal our planet, and may we heal the corporate greed that breaks her.

The depth to which we are willing to descend is the height to which we can rise — an alternate reading of "as above, so below."
Dear Earth,
Today we witness a New Moon in Scorpio. From our view on Earth, the Sun and Moon are aligned in Scorpio, and on the exact opposite side is Uranus in Taurus. Mars, the ruler of this new moon, is squaring Saturn. Heads up that Mercury will turn retrograde on Oct. 31.
This new moon is about deep dives and radical shifts. It is about looking fearlessly for the misalignment — the mis-truth we are operating under that holds us back — and to break free from these false constructs.
In Scorpio, the New Moon stirs up the internal and the internalized. Both our inner strength and power, as well as our buried feelings. This lunar cycle is a chance to cleanse ourselves from the inside out. To become more intimately acquainted with what hurts and what holds us back, in particular the societal messages we have been fed and internalized. When we are living within the confines of internalized social hierarchies, the fear of being “not enough” and not belonging are enough to keep us small. Internalized oppression is oppression at its most effective — because we then police and silence ourselves. Scorpio time is a chance to see this more clearly and to cleanse ourselves of this toxic cycle.
With Uranus interacting with this New Moon, we are also gifted with flashes of insight, illuminating that which is deeply true for ourselves. Uranus is a planet that is associated with Prometheus, the god who taught humans how to make fire. In the mythology, Prometheus was commanded by Zeus to keep fire a secret from the humans. But Prometheus could not stand the injustice of that. Unwilling to keep humans in the dark and chained by ignorance, he gave them the gift of truth. We, too, have the gift of our own truth at this New Moon.
Uranus entered Taurus in May 2018, and will continue in this sign for the next 6 years. This New Moon is just re-activating and amplifying the Uranus visions we may have been seeing so far. In Taurus, Uranus bings insights about how we ground and embody ourselves. Uranus in Taurus reminds us to lay our bodies on the ground and remember we are a piece of the Earth. We are not on the Earth, so much as we are of the Earth. At this New Moon, with Taurus activated, we have a chance to sow seeds for how we live on this planet, and these seeds will grow, flower, and flourish over these next 6 years.
We will have to work for these visions. We will first have to face our fears, and extend a firm and loving hand toward the parts of ourselves that cower in fear. The courageous act of simply facing that which hurts IS the transformation. It is the act that dis-spells fear. This steady stance is the deepest foundation for making meaningful change. This is the courage that Mars square Saturn symbolizes. This is the review of the mind’s deep recesses that Mercury retrograde requires of us.
Questions to ask this month:
What internalized stories of should / shame am I ready to dis-spell and break free from?
What is something I want to do that I have held myself back from, due to fears?
How do I want to embody the values that are real to me?
How can I put more attention on on what is true for me?
This new moon is a time to see deeply into ourselves, to break free from dominant society narratives, and to seed a liberatory vision for how we wish to live on this earth.
With lunar love,
