Re-Wilding

Update: this event has been cancelled due to illness in my family. East Point and I are sad to cancel, but we’d love to do this special event with you another time! Stay tuned for updates.

New & Full Moon ritual for people involved in mutual aid, organizing, and activism.

It has been said that people of the modern world suffer a great sadness, a "species loneliness" - estrangement from the rest of Creation. We have built this isolation with our fear, with our arrogance, and with our homes brightly lit against the night.

— Robin Wall Kimmerer (Potawatomi Nation)

Life as we knew it is interrupted. Plans have been cancelled, cities are quiet, and we are inside our brightly lit homes, staring at screens. While much has shifted, many of us are also normalizing to the new virtual reality. Some of us are working at the same pace, or even faster. There are many messages contained in this moment — but are we slowing down enough to listen, or are we simply on auto-pilot?

While the pandemic has caused suffering and exposed cruelties, as those hardest hit are disabled and fat, the homeless and undocumented, incarcerated people, Black and Asian fam (just to name a few) —  still, there is a gift to this time. The gift is the interruption of business as usual. It is also the fear and mourning we feel, that moves us to heal these injustices. As we seize this critical moment to fight for change, can we unite with the rest of the natural world? Can we listen to that larger body of wisdom?

Over these two sessions, we will go to the wild for information. Yes, there is nature here, even in our modern homes, even if we can’t go outside. To honor the information we hear, we will work to turn them into concrete action. We may even begin to heal our species loneliness.

This will not be your typical Zoom call. It is not a workshop, webinar, or training. Think of it as ritual. A call to connect with all of life’s relations, to ask your questions and listen for answers. For how we can organize ourselves towards our greatest potential as living beings.
