Dear Earth,
From our planetary perspective, we see a New Moon in Sagittarius on Tuesday, November 26, exact at 10:08am Eastern // 7:08am Pacific.
This moon beams with possibility and positivity. The two luminaries, Sun and Moon, join Jupiter in Sagittarius. Jupiter is also the ruling planet of Sag. It has been in its home sign since November 2018— and will leave on December 2, 2019.
As such, this New Moon highlights the ways we have grown in the past year— differently than we expected and beyond what we could have imagined. The past year has seen many collective (and perhaps personal) struggles for home and sovereignty, from Hong Kong to Chile to Oakland. And yet, in the face of difficulty, our beliefs and convictions often come into stronger and sharper focus. The spirit can root down with more steadfastness.
This New Moon reflects the resilience we have developed as we have travelled through the twists and turns of this year. It invites us to celebrate all that we have championed, adventured, and learned along the way.
Now, the Sagittarius energy begins to merge with Capricorn — Venus has just entered this pragmatic sign, and Jupiter will follow in a week (more on this transit soon). When we marry the energies of Sagittarius and Capricorn, we get dreams that manifest through pragmatic effort. We begin to funnel down from everrrrything we have worked on, and focus on a few priorities that feel most right. No big explanations needed here — just trust your gut. Sagittarius has a good instinct for what can grow if we pay attention to it (see: adrienne maree brown’s attention liberation).
Jupiter’s beneficence is enhanced by its close proximity to Venus, and Jupiter only comes around every 12 years. In other words, we won’t have another New Moon like this for over a decade. Graced today by Jupiter’s good fortune, we can take a concrete step toward our longterm goals. A good way to set an intention at this new moon would be through the ritual of embodied action. Take that concrete step forward; ground your future dreams with deliberate action.
During the New Moon, and the few days preceding and following it, Mars opposes Uranus. We may feel extra itchy to move forward — perhaps faster than would be wise. Try to take a breath and consider how others will be impacted before acting. But if you stumble in your enthusiasm, no big deal. Just invoke the magnanimous Sagittarius spirit. Smile and be swift in owning up to your mistakes. A sincere apology can go a long way. I highly recommend Mia Mingus and Bay Area Transformative Justice’s workshops on apology and accountability. They are excellent.
